NYC Transit is seeking an experienced, dynamic leader for the executive role of Chief Electronics Maintenance Officer in the Maintenance of Way Division within the Department of Subways. The Chief Electronics Maintenance Officer will play a key role in Subway performance improvement and system modernization efforts included in the Subway Action Plan and the recently released Fast Forward Plan.
The Chief Electronics Maintenance Officer will join a talented executive team at New York City Transit and will be responsible for the executive direction, strategic planning, SOGR, maintenance and operation of NYCT’s electronic systems and components supporting: communications, safety, customer service, revenue collection and various other complex systems for Subways and Buses. This includes voice, operating data, wireless, radio, copper and fiber optic infrastructures. The successful candidate will direct the maintenance, installation and availability of AFC/MetroCard equipment at all NYCT locations. Additional responsibilities include directing the operation of the Central Electronics Shop for repair of mission critical components for Car Equipment, AFC/MetroCard, CBTC, other internal groups and other MTA agencies. The selected candidate will also be responsible for contributing to the design and maintainability of rail car fleets through technical expertise; directing and leading efforts to maximize productivity and cost effectiveness of EMD; directing all staff activities and budgets; and providing significant support and involvement in the Capital Program.
Education and Experience Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Business Administration, Computer Science, Telecommunications or a related field of study and 12 years of full-time related experience; of which 9 years must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity; or
A satisfactory combination of education and experience.
- Extensive managerial experience in a 24/7 mission critical operation with mastery of operating networks, startups, documentation, personnel training and contractor management.
- Extensive knowledge of communications technologies and software systems.
- Knowledge of NYCT policies and operations with experience in union contracts and negotiations.
- Excellent strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
