Maintenance Technician

Summary
The plant Engineering Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and correct mechanical, electrical and process problems associated with production equipment to ensure proper operation and maintain production and facility equipment per safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the operations business goals and objectives. The position reports to the PE Assistant Manager.
 
Responsibilities / Duties:
  • Efficiently and expediently install, troubleshoots, and repair assigned facility equipment to ensure optimum production, usage and quality.
  • Maintain all safety work standards comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Assemble / Disassemble and convert/ upgrade production lines or support equipment as required for repairs and installation
  • Identify and work with contractors to repair, install, remove and /or upgrade equipment.
  • Perform basic PLC operation
  • Perform trial runs of machinery, fabricate new components and assemblies as required: (including fabrication of any part chutes, drops, conveyers or auxiliary equipment that is necessary to complete required part containment, or related parts or equipment that requires this application)
  • Assist in installations of equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Regularly inspect production lines.
  • Provide emergency / unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production
  • Work concurrently with other technical personnel to enhance machinery productivity and up time.
  • Scheduling and generation of Preventative maintenance using Micromain
  • Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to: Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders
  • Perform a variety of plumbing and maintenance and carpentry functions
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations.
  • Communicate with other department personnel and support personnel from other departments.
  • Other duties as assigned (may include work in other departments and manufacturing auxiliary equipment as assigned)
Minimum Requirements
  • Requires a high school diploma / GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years’ education and production maintenance experience.
  • Basic PLC operation: Programming, a degree/ certificate in Mechanical. Electrical, or industrial maintenance, experience in maintaining injection molding machinery, manufacturing with high-speed automation equipment, or peripheral utilized in assembly are preferred.
  • 1 + years of manufacturing experience
  • Strong hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some PLC experience and HVAC
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
  • Must have valid Texas driver’s License and a good driving record.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and the ability and willingness to stand or walk during the entire shift while working in moderate to noisy manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Mechanical aptitude and proven ability to learn mechanical, electrical and material principles
  • Ability to identify and work with contractors.
