Job Summary of the Sr. Systems Engineer
The PASD/Wiring Systems Engineer is responsible for designing and developing wiring harness systems. Responsibilities include the development, integration, and documentation of automotive wiring systems for vehicle programs. The PASD/Wiring Systems Engineer shall create preliminary block diagrams, wiring schematics, and detailed cable assembly designs.
Responsibilities of the Sr. Systems Engineer
Designs electrical distribution system (EDS) products to meet all customer requirements and internal design standards.
Generates a Bill of Material (BOM) and prints for product designs. Coordinates with Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing to assess product and processing costs and ensure that program cost targets are achieved.
Provides proposals on cost/weight reduction to enhance productivity. Coordinates all program status review meetings, design review meetings, and harness trial builds with customer, manufacturing, and purchasing.
Attends customer meetings and build events.
Maintains a program open issues list to track all issues (i.e., design, system, manufacturing, purchasing, and customer) which are related to the program.
Reviews the open issues list with the customer, manufacturing, and purchasing.
Coordinates program timing, PPAP, and master sample reviews.
Supports future business opportunities by working closely with the Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing groups.
Coordinate product development and launch up as leader of program development cross functional team.
Work with customer engineering to design/develop wire harnesses.
Create accurate print reflecting customer approved design intent and generate accurate BOMs.
Thoroughly reviewing technical documents before they get released or distributed.
Making Cost Competitive Harness design via advanced engineering activities.
Generating proposals with improved cost and weight
Engineering trend research via benchmarking.
Cost and weight reduction via application of advanced technologies.
Productivity improvement via application of advanced technologies.
Working closely with the Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing groups.
Supporting RFQ activities as required.
Fostering good relationship with customer and communicating customer needs to the team.
Trains and develops junior engineers.
Schedules program status review with internal teams
Manages timing and delivery
Qualifications of the Sr. Systems Engineer
BS Engineering related field (Electrical, Mechanical)
3 + years of automotive experience
5 + years of experience in engineering or a related technical area
Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, understanding of engineering/technical requirements and standards.
Knowledge of automotive component development and production processes, wire harness assembly processes, wire harness components
Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems (CATIA and UG), and Harness XC
Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
Automotive Wire Harness Design and or development experience
Understanding of Automotive Electrical Distribution
Understanding of Vehicle Topology
This position requires knowledge of wiring and components such as connectors, terminals, clips, and wraps. Using system and performance requirements, the candidate must be able to develop block diagrams and wiring schematics.
Bilingual Japanese or Spanish speaker
Understanding of customer development process
Travel up to 20% of time. (International travel is required)
Compensations of the Sr. Systems Engineer
Salary Range: $80,000 to $110,000 /year, depending on experience
Travel: 5-10%, as and when required
Relocation Assistance: Subject to review
