Power Management Technologist- Office of the CTO
This position demands a blend of Design, Applications & Marketing skills plus specific expertise (Switching power supplies, LDOs) and Senior levels of experience. Working within the HandHeld Consumer Division , the role is that of innovator and technologist in all relevant areas of power management.
You will work with Lead Designers and Applications staff to develop future strategy and direction, as well as drive initiatives for:
Next generation buck converter topologies
Efficient, Low noise, wide BW DC-DC conversion
Investigation & definition of next generation process & packaging requirements
Next generation FET power devices & structures
The ideal candidate should have a track record of designing and implementing power management solutions, familiarity with magnetics (characteristics, limitations, selection), compensation schemes, as well as having exposure to semiconductor manufacturing & design techniques. Device level expertise & familiarity would be a plus.
As well as being a proven innovator with several original inventions to his/her credit, the candidate should also be able to debate & converse with company experts at a deeply technical level, effectively get their buy-in on new concepts and strategic initiatives, then evangelize and drive these into the product lines. Communication & presentations with CTO, O-CTO members and upper tier Executives will be required on a regular basis. Excellent written & verbal communication skills are required. Expect travel of 1 week per quarter to visit customers, as well as preparation & delivery of relevant presentation material that promotes the Compants innovation areas, IP and newest product developments.
Requirements:
MSEE + minimum 10 years relevant experience
Experience and detailed knowledge of Power Management ICs for handheld applications including cellular phones, PDAs, digital cameras, and other portable consumer equipment
Experience in proposing and designing innovative power management circuits
Intimate knowledge of various regulator architectures
Expertise in using lab equipment to debug and evaluate power management products
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-discipline, cross-functional team
Demonstrated ability to self-manage, and meet deadlines in a timely manner
