Job Description
Power Design Engineer
This cutting edge company is looking for a self-motivated, hands-on electrical engineer to design power electronics for LED based lighting products. This position will at the Research Triangle Park, NC location. This individual will be working within cross functional groups consisting of marketing, engineering and manufacturing to design, qualify and introduce products into production. A successful candidate will be a resourceful problem solver that is able to work around technical obstacles and will be adept at the implementation of practical solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
o Develop, sustain, and improve LED drivers for general illumination products. Power levels are generally less than 100 watts.

o Lead design from concept through production including component selection, simulation, test, prototype build, safety approvals and production integration.

o Lead compliance effort for EMC and safety approvals both US and worldwide.

o Work directly with Manufacturing Operations and Engineering to ramp new products and processes into production.

o Interface with component suppliers to evaluate second source components and resolve technical issues that may arise in manufacturing.

o Indentify, initiate and implement solutions for process/product development that improves performance, reduces cost, strengthens yield, and increases capability.

o Provide training to other personnel to improve overall capabilities and knowledge.

o Work across company functional organizations to ensure project success..

Required Qualifications:
o B.S. in Electrical Engineering or other technical related field.

o 5+ years in power electronic design with working knowledge in high frequency magnetic design, control, topology selection.

o Strong technical background in electronic device performance and passive components.

o Ability to troubleshoot analog and power electronics with equipment such as; oscilloscopes, power meters, AC and DC power supplies and multimeters.

o Ability to work independently and be self-sufficient while managing multiple projects.

o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

o Self-starter with strong personal work ethic.

o Willing and open to travel both domestic and international.

Preferred Qualifications:
o Demonstrated history of developing innovative power electronic solutions.
o Strong background in simulation and analysis using pspice, mathcad or similar software tools.
o Experience with LED products.
